Fabrizio Romano provides update on ‘tense’ Morgan Gibbs-White to Tottenham saga

0 5

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that things remain very tense between Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest over Morgan Gibbs-White, but Spurs fans will be encouraged by what the North London club are thinking about the deal.

Gibbs-White’s move to Spurs appears to be in limbo at the moment after Nottingham Forest accused the Lilywhites of an illegal approach and are questioning how Thomas Frank’s men knew of the midfielder’s confidential £60m release clause.

While many experts say that Gibbs-White is likely to complete a move to Tottenham, it appears that the case is going to take some time to play out.

That is amidst reports that Nottingham Forest have no intention of backing down from their legal battle with Tottenham, with the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, prepared to lose money to stop the deal.

How Tottenham are feeling about their chances of landing Morgan Gibbs-White

Fabrizio Romano has now admitted that the situation is tense between the Midlands club and the North London side.

However, he made it clear that Spurs are still very confident that Gibbs-White will arrive in N17, even if the deal might not have been completed as quickly as they would have wanted.

Romano said on GiveMeSport’s YouTube Channel: “Nottingham Forest are not happy with the approach to the player, they mentioned that it is not something they expected from Tottenham. So the situation is quite tense between the two clubs.

“Now, Tottenham remain confident of their chances to sign the player. They need to discuss directly with Nottingham Forest to find a solution.

“It, of course, changes the timing of the deal. For Tottenham Hotspur, it was the perfect plan to sign Kudus and Gibbs-White in 24/48 hours; now it’s going to take a bit longer.

“But they remain intent on signing the player, and that remains their plan. So let’s see how it continues on the legal side, but for sure Tottenham still want Morgan Gibbs-White.”

Why the delay over Gibbs-White is hurting Spurs

It has been reported by several sources that Thomas Frank wants Gibbs-White in his squad before they fly out for their pre-season tour of Asia in 11 days.

However, the Premier League have not given a timeframe for the resolution of the Gibbs-White case, which means that Tottenham might not know how long this move will be delayed.

Some Spurs fans are urging the club to move on from Gibbs-White and turn their attention to other alternatives, as they are already tired of this saga.
