ESPYs Host Shane Gillis Reveals Which Patriots Legend He Wants To Meet
Despite being a Philadelphia Eagles fan, there is one New England Patriots legend that comedian Shane Gillis would certainly like to meet.
“Tom Brady would be cool to meet,” Gillis revealed in an interview with The Athletic. “I just recently met Charles Barkley. That was awesome. He was always one I wanted to meet.”
In his career, Gillis has had the opportunity to meet numerous celebrities, but it’s always the athletes that make him most excited.
“For some reason with athletes, it doesn’t go away. I can meet a famous actor or a famous comedian, and I’m usually pretty relaxed about it. But then I’ll meet Michael Phelps on a plane and I’m like, “Oh my God,” he explained. “The first time I met Aaron Judge, I couldn’t talk. I don’t know why. I get starstruck by that. I didn’t think Caitlin Clark was going to be starstruck. I was, which was pretty funny. Steph Curry, that was awesome.”
And it will be a dream come true for Gillis, who will be surrounded by athletes on Wednesday night when he takes the stage to host the 2025 ESPYS.
NFL stars such as Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley are nominated for best male athlete, while Allen, Barkley, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, and Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II are up for best NFL player. Barkley’s backwards hurdle is also up for the best play, while the Eagles are nominated for best team.
Unfortunately for Gillis, it’s unlikely that Brady will attend the 2025 ESPYs since he’s not a nominee or a presenter. But there will be plenty of other athletes for him to meet.
