Liverpool close to $120 M club record move for Premier League star

0 0
The 25-year-old forward scored 23 goals in the most recent Premier League season, ranking just behind Mohamed Salah in the scoring charts — a performance that drew admiration from the Reds' scouting team.

According to a report from The Athletic, Premier League champions Liverpool have not submitted a formal offer for Alexander Isak, despite ongoing rumors linking them with the Swedish striker. The club is said to be “very aware” of Newcastle United’s firm stance: Isak is not for sale.

The 25-year-old forward has been on the radar of several top European clubs, with Liverpool reportedly admiring his consistent goal-scoring form. However, any potential move appears unlikely at this stage due to Newcastle’s reluctance to part ways with one of their most valuable assets.

Isak’s stellar impact at Newcastle

Isak had an outstanding 2024-25 Premier League season, netting 23 goals, a tally that was only surpassed by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. His finishing ability, pace, and positional awareness have made him one of the most dangerous strikers in the league and a key figure in Newcastle’s project under Eddie Howe.

Since joining Newcastle United in 2022 from Real Sociedad in a deal worth £60 million, Isak has made a remarkable impact. The striker has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances for the Magpies across all competitions. His clinical performances played a decisive role in helping Newcastle secure the 2025 Carabao Cup, marking their first major trophy in 70 years.

City’s interest is real, but respectful

Liverpool, on the other hand, are evaluating attacking options following uncertainty over the future of some of their forwards. The potential arrival of another Scandinavian star has sparked curiosity — but for now, Isak remains firmly a Magpie.

Sources close to the situation suggest that while Liverpool greatly admire Isak’s qualities, they are also respecting Newcastle’s financial and competitive position. The Magpies are currently building for another season of European competition and view Isak as central to their ambitions.

No deal on the table — For now

Unless Newcastle’s stance changes significantly or the player expresses a desire to leave, Liverpool are unlikely to pursue further negotiations this summer. For now, the Sweden international looks set to continue his impressive run in black and white — much to the relief of the St. James’ Park faithful.
