Unveiled: Official best XI for the Club World Cup

Real Madrid’s Gonzalo emerged as the top scorer of the Club World Cup with four goals, earning a surprise but deserved place in the Team of the Tournament.

DAZN has unveiled the Club World Cup Team of the Tournament this Monday, following Chelsea‘s emphatic victory in the final held in New York.

In goal, the standout choice is Bono, the Moroccan goalkeeper for Al-Hilal — one of the surprise teams of the competition. The former Sevilla shot-stopper delivered top-class performances throughout the tournament, especially in the Round of 16 match against Manchester City, where he made ten saves, several of them nearly impossible.

The center-back duo is made up of two compatriots—captains, longtime friends, and teammates: Thiago Silva (Fluminense) and Marquinhos (PSG). The Fluminense defender continues to lead at 40 years old, and his performance in the tournament is proof that he remains at the top of his game despite his age.

The full-backs are Achraf Hakimi, from PSG, and Marc Cucurella, from Chelsea—one of two Spaniards in the starting XI. The PSG right-back had an excellent tournament, being a weapon both in attack and defense. But special mention goes to the Spanish international.

Cucurella is in exceptional form. He’s currently one of the best left-backs in the world—a defensive rock and one of the top players in terms of duels won. His crucial defensive action to prevent the opening goal before Palmer‘s strike was championship-winning—literally.

The midfield is dominated by Chelsea. Enzo Fernández, Cole Palmer, and Pedro Neto are joined by Vitinha, whose inclusion in the team was never in doubt.

Three Chelsea players occupy the midfield. Enzo delivered an outstanding Club World Cup, showing leadership and authority in a midfield that controlled the game. Palmer, with two brilliant goals and an assist, was named MVP of the final.

The ideal XI is rounded out by Jhon Arias and Gonzalo, the tournament’s top scorer, who made a stunning leap from Spain’s third division to shining on the global stage with Real Madrid in just a few weeks.

Gonzalo has been a pleasant surprise for Real Madrid. His striker’s instinct—scoring four goals—earned him a well-deserved spot in the Club World Cup’s Team of the Tournament.
