'Set to sign': Journalist reveals 'highly-rated' Man Utd ace closing in on 'first-team debut'

Manchester United are preparing to reward one of their most exciting academy talents.

According to the reliable journalist Steven Railston, Godwill Kukonki is set to sign a professional contract with United.

The youngster is highly rated and will now try to make his first-team debut.

The 17-year-old earned multiple call-ups to the senior matchday squads under manager Ruben Amorim last season.

Kukonki is a promising centre-back who has also played a few times in the left-back spot for the youth teams.

Standing at an imposing 6ft 5ins, the teenager combines physical dominance with a calmness on the ball, making him a natural fit for Amorim’s progressive style of play.

Victor Lindelof departed from the club last month after his contract expired, opening up a centre-back vacancy in the squad.

Kukonki was part of United’s post-season tour and made appearances against ASEAN All-Stars and Hong Kong.

We believe he could seamlessly adapt to the left-sided centre-back spot in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Lisandro Martinez is the undisputed starter for that role.

Ayden Heaven will serve as his deputy, considering Martinez has had two difficult seasons due to injuries.

Kukonki could be used as a rotational option in the FA Cup or Carabao Cup games.

Game time at that level will give the teenager a priceless taste of senior football and a platform to show why he is considered one of the academy’s most promising prospects.

Amorim is known for trusting industrious youngsters with sky-high potential in his line-ups.

Chido Obi, Harry Amass, and Tyler Fredricson all made their senior debuts under his guidance last season.
