Man Utd boost as Fabrizio Romano shares huge update about Brentford & Mbeumo
Brentford are preparing for life without Manchester United target Bryan Mbeumo and have identified Ipswich Town star Omari Hutchinson as a potential replacement, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Reports emerged at the weekend that the Cameroon international could be joining the Red Devils before the end of this week, and the update from the Italian transfer expert speaks volumes.
Man United have been attempting to sign Mbeumo for weeks, and it appears they are now closing in on a deal as the Bees have started looking for his replacement.
The Old Trafford club will be travelling for their pre-season tour at the end of this week, and head coach Ruben Amorim would love to leave with Mbeumo.
Man United are looking to improve significantly on the pitch next season after a very disappointing 2024-25, and their Portuguese boss is desperate to hit the ground running at the beginning of his first full season in charge.
They have already added Brazil international forward Matheus Cunha to their attack, and his Brentford counterpart could soon be swapping London for Manchester.
Given their versatility and impressive finishing ability, Cunha and Mbeumo can lead the line if need be, but Amorim is expected to go after a new number 9 this summer, which could lead to the departure of Rasmus Hojlund following his underwhelming performances last season.
The Red Devils also want a new number 6 as they look to bolster their options in the middle of the park, and they have been linked with Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand, Bayern Munich star Joao Palhinha and Palmeiras ace Richard Rios.
They could also be forced to sign another goalkeeper after Andre Onana sustained a hamstring injury after resuming with the team for pre-season last week, with the Cameroon international expected to be out for around six or more weeks.
