Roma target Wesley hints at move as Flamengo stand firm on price tag
Flamengo right-back Wesley has hinted he may have played his last game for the Brazilian clubs, amid rumours linking the 21-year-old with a move to Roma.
Speaking after Flamengo’s 2-0 victory against São Paulo, in which the defender played 90 minutes and provided the assist for the opening goal, Wesley said “[My future] depends on the board, my club and my agents. My mind is 100% focused here. If I had to play 15 more games, I would – but if this was my last match, I’d be happy too.”
Flamengo set price tag for Wesley amid Roma links
Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, according to reports from CalcioMercato, with the Brazilian club demanding €25 million plus bonuses for the young defender.
Roma’s 2025-26 officially began today with their pre-season training camp at Trigoria and new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini is eager for the club to bring new additions in with apt time for them to adjust before the Serie A campaign begins later in the summer.
Wesley’s response to the links was clearly diplomatic but one which certainly does not close any doors on Roma’s pursuit.
