Patriots Icon Randy Moss Names Wide Receiver On Pace To Become ‘Greatest Ever’

Randy Moss will forever be regarded as one of the best wide receivers ever. He sees one current superstar on track to surpass him.

Before spending three dominant seasons with the New England Patriots, Moss began his Hall of Fame career with the Minnesota Vikings. The franchise now rosters another world-class wideout in Justin Jefferson.

Moss set a high bar for Jefferson during a recent interview with TMZ Sports.

“I think Justin Jefferson is on pace to be arguably the greatest ever, and definitely the greatest Viking to ever do it,” Moss said.

No player in NFL history has more receiving yards through his first five seasons than Jefferson’s 7,432. He earned his fourth Pro Bowl and second first-team All-Pro nod with 103 catches for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024.

“I’ve always been a fan of a complete football player, where you can score from anywhere on the field,” Moss said. “And Justin brings that to the table.”

Yet Moss got off to a hotter start in the touchdown column, scoring 60 times in his first five seasons to Jefferson’s 40. That’s not counting the single-season record 23 receiving touchdowns Moss collected for the Patriots in 2007, helping him rank second on the all-time leaderboard behind Jerry Rice.

Moss thinks Jefferson must bolster his touchdown tallies to challenge him, Rice and the game’s other iconic receivers.

“At our position, it’s not about the yards,” Moss declared. “The yards are what get you the likes and the hearts and all that, but if you want to be legendary … you got to find ways to get in the end zone.”
