On the back of the Callum Fowler thread and other people really bigging up, I listed to the NTT20 view on our transfers. I was most excited to get their take as they seem to be the most knowledgable about the EFL and it wasn’t all glowing.
I’ll paraphrase and summise:
Doyle - exciting, surprised he’s back in the championship. Very confident that he will be very good for us.
Beadle - More confident than others might be it’ll be a good signing. His perceived weaknesses were more to do with the club he was at.
Gray - big question marks. Above this level when younger. Pacy, skillfull wingers peak earlier so 29 means he’s actually on the decline.
BOS - exciting to see how he’s changed in his new role. Peak age and because it’s a demanding position in our set up it’s good to have someone to share the minutes with Laird.
Kyogo - red flag that Rennes didn’t work. Playing upfront for Celtic were you get 3/4 really high quality chances created every game is incomparable to anything in the championship. Small poacher types have gone out of fashion in this division.
Fujimoto - difficult to know how his skills will translate to English football.*
I’m quite cynical (see other posts lol) so I should and usually err on the side of caution too, but it’s really good business imo and we should rightly be excited and confident so I’m disappointed that the people I trust the most on the EFL weren’t so bullish about it.
*they then went on to really big up Oxford’s new signing which annoyed me having previously bugged up Swansea’s business before us.
