Injured Tottenham star finally expected back in August after seven months out
One injured Tottenham star has been seen doing work in the gym at the start of pre-season, but he is still potentially a month away from full fitness.
Many of Tottenham’s international stars have reported for pre-season training over the last few days, which means that Thomas Frank almost has a full squad to work with.
The Tottenham youngsters who were involved in the U19 and U21 Euros this summer are due to return later, and a couple of senior Spurs stars are also working their way back from injuries.
One of those is Radu Dragusin, who has been out with an ACL injury since January, but it turns out that the centre-back is now nearing full fitness.
Could Radu Dragusin be fit before the start of Tottenham’s season?
Journalist Tom Barclay has been speaking about the embarrassment of riches that Thomas Frank has at centre-back following the signing of Kota Takai.
The journalist counted nine options, alongside youngsters, Luka Vuskovic, Ashley Phillips and Alfie Dorrington, and while doing so, he shared that Dragusin is expected to be back in action next month.
Barclay said on his YouTube channel: “He obviously has a lot of centre-backs already, Takai I think becomes the ninth centre-back in the squad alongside Romero, Van de Ven, Danso, Dragusin, who I believe is on track to come back in August time from his ACL. You have Ben Davies, Takai now, Luka Vuskovic, Ashley Phillips and Alfie Dorrington as well.”
Tottenham’s season begins on August 13 with a UEFA Super Cup clash against PSG, with the Lilywhites beginning their league campaign three days later with a clash against Burnley at home.
Would Spurs consider cashing in on Radu Dragusin?
Given how many centre-backs Tottenham now have, it is perhaps not out of the question that one of the senior ones could be sold this summer.
With reports indicating that Spurs are determined to keep Cristian Romero, the Romanian could be the one sacrificed by the club if they do decide to move one defender on.
Some reports from Italy have claimed this summer that Dragusin is one of the centre-backs on AC Milan’s wishlist.
