Red Sox Make Much-Anticipated Roster Move Before Facing Rays
Alex Bregman is back in Boston.
The Red Sox on Friday afternoon reinstated Bregman from the 10-day injured list. The official roster move comes after Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Bregman would play in two games during Boston’s four-game weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Boston also reinstated right-handed pitcher Hunter Dobbins from the 15-day injured list.
The Red Sox optioned infielder David Hamilton and right-handed pitcher Isaiah Campbell to Triple-A Worcester. Those moves were first reported Thursday night by MassLive’s Chris Cotillo and the Boston Herald’s Mac Cerullo.
Bregman has not played since he suffered a quad strain May 23. He’s played 51 games this season.
The 2025 MLB All-Star was batting .299 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs before he suffered the injury.
