Napoli now aiming to sign 21-G/A United star to partner De Bruyne, seek £15m discount - report
Manchester United are planning to make several additions to the forward department this summer.
They have already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Talks are also advancing with Brentford regarding the potential transfer of Bryan Mbeumo.
The club are likewise eyeing a new striker. The huge outlay will coincide with player exits, and Mirror claim that Napoli have revived their interest in signing Alejandro Garnacho this summer.
The Serie A giants failed with a £60 million offer for the Argentine last winter, and are now preparing a £45m bid (£15m discount) to purchase the United graduate, who managed 21 goal contributions at club level last season.
The Red Devils value their prized asset at £60m this summer, but are aware that the price may not be matched after the attacker’s reported fall-out with head coach Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho’s Premier League preference could be a roadblock
The Italian champions recently made a statement by securing the free transfer of Kevin De Bruyne.
The club now want Garnacho to link up with the former Manchester City star in Naples, as per Mirror.
A deal won’t be straightforward for a few reasons. United could be prepared to accept a reduced package for Garnacho, who does not feature in Amorim’s plans next term.
However, the player himself could turn down the proposal. He has his sights on continuing in the Premier League. Personal terms could be another roadblock towards a transfer.
Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna admitted back in February that Garnacho asked for ‘an important salary’ and the club were unable to agree on contract terms.
A transfer could depend on whether Garnacho can be convinced to lower his salary demands as well as accept a new challenge away from the Premier League next season.
