When Tottenham are expected to officially announce Mohammed Kudus
Tottenham Hotspur have seemingly wrapped up a deal for Mohammed Kudus and the announcement from the Lilywhites is expected to come much sooner than many Spurs fans may have expected.
After a couple of weeks of negotiations, which saw West Ham turn down three offers from Tottenham for Kudus, the two parties finally appeared to have reached an agreement on Wednesday.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs agreed a £55m deal for Kudus yesterday, with the winger expected to sign a six-year contract with the North Londoners.
The Italian journalist did not say whether the deal included add-ons, but on the face of it, it appears to be a very astute piece of business from the Lilywhites, given the inflated fees that other wingers are going for in the current transfer window.
When will Tottenham confirm Mohammed Kudus’ arrival?
In his update, Romano revealed that a medical for the Ghana international had been booked at Hotspur Way on Thursday.
This information has now been backed up by Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who revealed on Wednesday night that the winger will have his checkup today at Spurs before finalising the move.
Should the tests go without any hiccup, Plettenberg says that Tottenham could announce Kudus’ arrival by the end of today.
Why Daniel Levy and Tottenham deserve a lot of credit for this deal
Over the last few weeks, plenty of Spurs fans on social media have been extremely critical of Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board for dragging their feet and not getting the deal done.
However, to secure this transfer for £55m is extremely skilful negotiating, especially considering that West Ham wanted £65m for Kudus.
There were even claims that West Ham wanted to add a ‘Tottenham tax’ for the Kudus deal, but Spurs knew they were in a strong negotiating position and managed to drive down the price.
