Ricci: ‘Quick chat’ with Gattuso, Milan transfer ‘fundamental’ for Italy career
New Milan signing Samuele Ricci admits that his move to Milan could be ‘fundamental’ for his international career with the Italy national team.
Ricci was unveiled as a new Milan player during a press conference on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old has made ten senior appearances with the Azzurri and hopes his move to San Siro will lead to a further improvement on the international front.
Ricci already spoke to new Italy coach Gattuso
“I think Milan could be fundamental for my career with the Azzurri,” Ricci said via TMW.
“It’s the right place to improve and grow. I’m aware of the challenges ahead. When you take a big step forward and train with the top players, the competition increases. It’s part of the football career. I’ve already briefly spoken with coach Gennaro Gattuso on the phone, it meant a lot to me.”
The Italian midfielder is among the 35 players Gattuso called after his appointment.
“He didn’t really talk about Milan; it was a quick chat,” Ricci concluded.
