Tottenham have competition from two Serie A clubs in race for £25.8m South American star
A midfielder, who has been one of the best players at the Club World Cup, is reportedly on Tottenham’s radar, but a new update has revealed that two Serie A giants have now stepped up their interest in the player.
Palmeiras were one of the surprise packages of the Club World Cup, with the Brazilian club impressing on the biggest stage and eventually making it until the quarterfinal, where they fell to a 2-1 loss to Chelsea.
A huge part of their success was down to how Richard Rios controlled proceedings in the middle of the park, and unsurprisingly, the 25-year-old is now attracting interest from across Europe.
Various outlets have claimed over recent weeks that Tottenham were considering a move for Richard Rios after watching him closely in the ongoing tournament in the United States.

It was even claimed by Ben Jacobs recently that Spurs are the ones to watch in the race for Rios, who was also alleged to be on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of the Colombia international, revealing that Inter Milan and Roma have both contacted Palmeiras over the midfielder.
The Italian transfer market expert asserted that the Brazilian outfit are demanding €30m (£25.8m) for their star man. Spurs were not mentioned in this particular update.
Why Tottenham need a top-class number-six
It has been widely reported that Thomas Frank is prioritising signing a defensive midfielder this summer, which does not come as a surprise.
Over recent days, we have also heard that Spurs are now actively looking to find a buyer for Yves Bissouma, who is not in Frank’s plans.
We might thus see the Lilywhites make multiple signings in central midfield this summer to cope with the rigours of Champions League football, and Rios could be a tempting option, now that he has proven himself against world-class opposition.
