Why Celtics Contacted Pacers After Tyrese Haliburton’s Injury

The Celtics are no strangers to what the Indiana Pacers are going through with Tyrese Haliburton’s Achilles injury.

Jayson Tatum suffered the same injury just six weeks before the star guard. Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard announced Monday that Haliburton will be out for all of the 2025-26 season.

With the Celtics understanding what the Pacers are going through, president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said he and vice president of basketball operations Mike Zarren have been in touch with Pritchard.

“Like, ‘Anything we can do to help let us know, because we’ve been through it,’” Stevens told reporters Tuesday, per MassLive’s Lauren Campbell. “Those are hard things to go through, and they’re emotional, but it’s more emotional, and it’s probably more impactful, for how you feel about the player. You hate to see that. You’re not talking as much about the team building yet. But there are moments in the next few weeks where you do.”

Haliburton sustained the injury in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He went down in the first quarter, falling to the floor after attempting to push off his right leg and drive to the basket.

The Pacers lost the game after their star guard went down with the heartbreaking injury.
