Journalist says Tottenham will be optimistic about landing £25m 13-goal striker

0 0

Transfer market expert Pete O’Rourke believes that Tottenham Hotspur will fancy their chances of winning the race for a Ligue 1 centre-forward if they push forward with an offer.

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that over the last few weeks, a number of outlets have claimed that Tottenham are plotting a move for Nice striker Evann Guessand.

The Ivory Coast international scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions last season, and according to some sources, Spurs are facing competition from West Ham and Wolves for Guessand’s signature.

It has been alleged that Nice are reluctant to lose Guessand after qualifying for the Champions League, but they will let the 24-year-old leave for an offer of around £25m.

Tottenham hold the advantage in the race for Evann Guessand

Pete O’Rourke has now said that, apart from West Ham and Wolves, Tottenham Hotspur also have to worry about competition from Brighton for the Nice star’s services.

Additionally, former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is also keen on taking the centre-forward to Fenerbahce, but O’Rourke suggested that Spurs will fancy their chances of winning the race for the player.

When asked about the speculation over Guessand’s future, O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Nice are bracing themselves for interest in the upcoming window. There’s been talk that Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce would like to sign him as well.

“My sources tell me the player himself is not overly keen on that move, so that will be positive news for his Premier League suitors. Looking at the interested clubs, Brighton, West Ham, Wolves…

“Tottenham I’m sure would be pretty hopeful that, if they do follow up their interest, they could win the race for his services.”

A potential move from Spurs for Guessand may depend on Richarlison

The reason that various strikers are continuing to be linked with a move to Spurs is due to the uncertainty over Richarlison’s Tottenham future.

If the Lilywhites do cash in on the Brazilian, they will need to bring in another centre-forward to offer competition to Dominic Solanke.

However, it emerged a couple of days ago that Thomas Frank wants to assess Richarlison in pre-season before deciding his future while the former Everton man would also prefer to stay in North London if he feels he will get regular game time under the Dane.
