Tottenham are now seeing Luka Vuskovic as an option to replace Cristian Romero after the Argentine’s contract stance, with preseason expected to be crucial.

Heung-min Son’s contract is set to expire in 12 months, and he is already attracting interest from elsewhere. However, it is claimed that Frank and Son would have to hold a meeting to decide on what the future holds for the Tottenham captain, who has decided to remain at Spurs for one more season.
Cristian Romero’s future is also in doubt, as the defender is currently attracting interest from Atletico Madrid, with the Spanish side reported to be preparing an all-out bid for the Spurs vice-captain this summer.

Should Cristian Romero leave, Tottenham would be looking to secure a replacement for the Argentine ahead of the upcoming campaign, with reports now stating that Luka Vuskovic, who just returned from loan, could be an option.
According to Tom Barclay of The Sun, Thomas Frank is expected to monitor Vuskovic closely during pre-season and is said to be open to keeping the youngster at the club if he manages to impress.
However, the report also states that a loan move remains the more likely outcome, with the Bundesliga emerging as a potential destination.
It is understood that newly promoted side Hamburg is among the clubs currently leading the race to sign him on a temporary deal.

While there is a chance for Vuskovic to feature more this season, the youngster returning from loan is expected to face competition for a place in the Spurs squad.
At present, other youngsters are also gunning for a place in the first team, including Ashley Phillips and new signing Kota Takai.
This pre-season will be crucial for each of these players, as they will have the opportunity to prove to Frank first-hand if they can do a job in his system, as the Danish manager has also been tasked with the responsibility of nurturing Tottenham’s youngsters.
