Fun Day Success!
Hundreds of people turned out in force to enjoy DFCSA’s Fun Day, yesterday.
Families took part in a range of games and activities, while music, food, drink and stalls meant there was plenty for all ages to get involved in.
The Club’s free football training session saw hundreds of children take part in drills, games and beat-the-player penalty competitions. Ady Pennock, Samir Carruthers, Michael Olarewaju and George Whitefield from the men’s first team and Georgie Davis, Shauni Griffiths and Abbey Davies from the women’s team, took dozens of children from five to 12-years-old through their paces – helping to ignite the imaginations of the next generation of DFC players and fans.
Each participant took home a goody bag with medals, certificates and a ticket giving a parent free entry to some of the home friendlies coming up – encouraging a new wave of supporters through the turnstiles who might not normally attend a match.
DFC sponsors the Diagrama Foundation, a charity that supports vulnerable children and adults to live their best life, were on hand to spread the word of all they do in the community and Dartford’s MP Jim Dickson was in attendance to offer his support.
The Fun Day brought together all parts of the Club who worked to ensure it was a massive success.
A huge thank-you to the Fun Day Committee of Karen Sparrow, Karen Leach, Clare Weeks and Kath Atkins, with help from Linda Austen, for organising the event and ensuring the day went smoothly. Thanks to Geoff Ashburn and Colin Sparrow for their support and to Gary Clark, Andy Bonnett, Fred Bonnett, Stuart Luck and Scott McKinnon, alongside directors Mark Brenlund, Wayne Beckett, Norman Grimes and Gareth Morgan for their help on the day, as well as many others who gave up their time on stalls and helped in other ways.
Other mentions go to Sharon Upton and team who manned the Darts Grill; all the bar staff; AJ Celebrations for their loan of the children’s games and gazebos; Dartford Gems Steel Band and The Orchard Ukulele Band for providing the music throughout; Keith the Compare; Jack and Hayley for their work and support and Carol White-Griffiths for photographs on the day.
A special mention to Dartford Youth Grassroots lead Darren Corley and U-12s Girls’ manager Stuart Clarke for their help and support with the training sessions and Academy Youth lead Russell Searle and Community Coach Warren Bull for their assistance behind the scenes.
And of course, to the players and management who gave up their time to ensure the training session was enjoyed by all.
And thanks to all those who attended! We hope it was an enjoyable day and that we will see you at a match and Princes Park again, in the near future!
