Insigne: Italy call-up one of the ‘main goals’ after Toronto FC exit
Ex-Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne hopes to find a new club ‘as soon as possible’ as he aims for a new Italy national team call-up: ‘It’s one of the main goals.’
Insigne has terminated his contract with Toronto FC and is currently without a club.
“I’m feeling really, really good. I’ll enjoy the holidays with my family, hoping to get back to playing as soon as possible,” Insigne told Sky Sport via TMW.

“My agent handles the contacts, I focus on doing my job and being ready in case I get a call-up,” Insigne continued.
Insigne, 34, has not played for the Italy national team since the World Cup qualification Playoff loss against North Macedonia in March 2022, but hopes for a new chance under Gennaro Gattuso, one of his former coaches at Napoli.

“Surely that’s one of the main goals. It’s been a long time since I wore that jersey, and I hope to do so again soon,” said the winger.
“Right now, I need to focus on a new adventure. At that point, the priority will be to earn a place back on the national team.
“I have a great relationship with Gattuso, and we were in touch even before he became the Italy head coach. I just called him to congratulate him.”
