After Cunha: Man United officially complete signing of exciting £7m starlet
Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of young full-back Diego Leon.
The 18-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno for an initial fee of £3.2 million, which could rise to £7m with add-ons.
Leon is a sensational talent and has bagged four goals in 33 senior games.
Man United have confirmed that Leon will be supported by the first team and the Academy whilst he settles into life in Manchester.
When the Red Devils announced the signing of Ayden Heaven, they confirmed that the former Arsenal starlet would directly slot into the senior set-up.
We believe Leon will be given opportunities initially with the Under-21 side that can help him acclimate to English football.
Harry Amass has broken through into Ruben Amorim’s squad in the second half of last season.
He is expected to provide competition for Danish star Patrick Dorgu for the left wing-back spot.
Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw are other alternatives, but the former wants to leave the club this summer.
Amorim could deploy Shaw in the left centre-back spot more regularly, considering his ability to play incisive passes from the back.
Leon is a modern left-back by trade who loves to make attacking runs to support his side in the final third.
If he can impress with the development teams at Old Trafford, Amorim could give him an opportunity in the first team.
United have already signed forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this transfer window.
They are also in negotiations with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo.
It is a big summer of change for United, with five players already expressing their desire to leave Old Trafford.
