Red Sox Issue Update After Concerning Ceddanne Rafaela Stumble

The Boston Red Sox were dealt quite a scare in Saturday’s victory over the Washington Nationals.

Ceddanne Rafaela, who has been one the lineup’s hottest bats in recent weeks, left the game after tumbling to the dirt on a double in the eighth inning. Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams took advantage of the folly, tagging the superstar fielder to end his afternoon. Nate Eaton would go on to replace him in center field, with Marcelo Mayer entering the game at third base.

It’s the kind of moment that might have caused you to hold your breath, but there is no need to fret, as all is well.

“He’s OK,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed following the game, as seen on NESN.

Rafaela, as we previously mentioned, has been tearing the cover off the ball recently, slashing .287/.340/.574 with seven home runs, 10 doubles, 17 RBIs and 33 total runs produced since the start of June.

The Red Sox are certainly glad he’ll be able to continue bringing that to the plate, especially considering it comes alongside some of the best outfield defense in the game.
