Former Tottenham employee confirms Thomas Frank wants to sign Aston Villa star
Tottenham’s former scout Mick Brown has revealed that Thomas Frank is a big fan of a midfielder who has been linked with a move to Spurs over recent weeks and has confirmed that the Lilywhites have been monitoring the player for a long time.
Reports continue to indicate that Frank is prioritising reinforcing Tottenham’s midfield department this summer ahead of his first season in charge at N17.
One man who may offer the Dane plenty of options is the versatile Jacob Ramsey, who has operated on the middle of the park as well as on the left for Unai Emery’s men over the past couple of seasons.
Over recent weeks, multiple outlets have reported that Tottenham are considering a move for Ramsey and it has now been revealed by a former Spurs insider that the 24-year-old has been on the North London club’s radar for a long time.
Thomas Frank wants Jacob Ramsey at Tottenham
Mick Brown, who worked as a scout for Tottenham Hotspur for over a decade and remains well-connected in the game, has revealed that the Lilywhites have been running the rule over Ramsey’s performances for a while.
Additionally, he revealed that Frank is a big fan of the English midfielder, adding that Spurs could take advantage of the player’s desire to get regular game time.
Brown told Football Insider: “Tottenham have been looking at Jacob Ramsey. Thomas Frank rates him and he’s one Spurs have been interested in for a while. They’ve had scouts keeping an eye on his performances, and they’ve now spoken to his agent about what it would take to bring him in.
“He’s had doubts about whether he’s going to be a regular starting XI player at Villa, or if he’s going to be better served moving somewhere else. So a move to Tottenham would be a fresh start and a new environment for him.”
Aston Villa are willing to sell Ramsey
The Daily Mail claimed two weeks ago that Villa are ready to cash in on Ramsey amidst Tottenham’s interest, with the Midlands club needing to raise money to balance their books, given their PSR situation.
This has now been backed up by Brown, who said that Unai Emery’s men need to sell players before they can push ahead with moves for their transfer targets.
The former Spurs scout added: “From a Villa point of view, they might be open to letting him go to raise money. They’ve had these financial concerns and making a profit from selling him will allow them to spend.”
