Thomas Frank has a plan for Will Lankshear at Tottenham amid Ryan Mason reports

0 5

We might see quite a bit of turnover at Tottenham this summer as Thomas Frank looks to rebuild the squad he inherited from Ange Postecoglou, but it turns out that the Dane is not in a hurry to decide on Will Lankshear’s future.

It has been widely reported that Frank has greenlighted the sale of Richarlison this summer, which means that Tottenham are likely to be in the market for a number nine to offer competition to Dominic Solanke.

However, rather than turning to the market, there is a small possibility that the Lilywhites may promote a young centre-forward who has been making waves for their youth sides over the last two years.

Will Lankshear has been turning a lot of heads with his volume of goals for the Under-21s and he forced himself into the first-team last season under Ange Postecoglou, scoring his first senior goal for the club in their Europa League loss away at Galatasaray.

Thomas Frank wants to look at Will Lankshear in Tottenham training

The centre-forward, who spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom, will be given a chance to impress the new Tottenham head coach in pre-season.

This is the information provided by Alasdair Gold, who revealed that while the Baggies are one of several sides wanting to sign Lankshear on loan for the upcoming season, Frank wants to assess the 20-year-old before deciding on his future.

Gold said on his YouTube channel: “[Will Lankshear] has got a number of clubs across England and Europe that want to take him on loan. West Brom are interested in taking him back, and Ryan Mason is, of course, there now.

“But from what I understand, Thomas Frank wants to take a look at him first. He wants to have a little look at him before deciding what’s going to happen with him loan-wise.”

This comes after reports that Ryan Mason and West Brom may look to bring Lankshear back this summer.

Spurs face a tricky decision on Lankshear and Scarlett

The chances of Will Lankshear being the second choice to Solanke seem slim as Frank will want to add more experience to his Tottenham forward line.

The 20-year-old will likely have to settle for being third choice, and his chances of game time at Spurs are much lower than last season, with the Lilywhites set to play in the Champions League rather than the Europa League.

It might thus be better for Lankshear’s development to loan him out, particularly to West Brom, so that he can work under a coach in Mason who knows him well.

Interestingly, we already know that the new Spurs boss is a fan of the striker, with reports indicating that Frank tried to take Lankshear to Brentford before Tottenham signed him.
