Why Tottenham have no hope of agreeing swap deal for Mohammed Kudus
As Tottenham Hotspur continue to advance on a deal for Mohammed Kudus, a West Ham United insider has now revealed that Chelsea have failed with a move for the winger.
Spurs and West Ham are now locked in negotiations over a deal for Kudus, and if the deal goes through, the Ghanaian will be the first player to make a switch from the Hammers to N17 since Scott Parker in 2011.
On Monday evening, it emerged that Tottenham’s £55m offer for Kudus had been turned down by West Ham, and we are waiting to see how the Lilywhites now respond.
Interestingly, it turns out that Spurs are not the only ones who have had a proposal for the 24-year-old sent back by the East London club.
West Ham only want straight cash for Tottenham and Chelsea target Mohammed Kudus
Earlier this week, The Daily Mail reported that Chelsea are ready to challenge Tottenham for Kudus, but the Blues are facing one big problem.
It was explained that the West London club do not have PSR leeway to spend big on Kudus unless they sell players first, and they would thus have to make a part-exchange offer, which West Ham are not keen on.
This has now been backed up by the social media handle, ‘ExWHUEmployee’ who regularly provides accurate updates about developments at the London Stadium.
He revealed on The Inside Forward podcast that Chelsea had offered two or three of their players to West Ham in exchange for Kudus.
However, Graham Potter’s men rejected that offer and made it clear that they are looking for a straight cash deal.
How much do West Ham want for Kudus?
Over recent hours, it has been reported by TBR Football that after rejecting Tottenham Hotspur’s £55m offer, West Ham had told Spurs to pay £65m to land Kudus.
The outlet added that the Hammers had made it very clear that they will not be selling the former Ajax man unless the offer starts with a six.
This ties in with what several other sources, including The Guardian, have reported over recent days after they claimed that West Ham will accept a £60m offer for Kudus, given their desperation to raise funds.
