Tottenham see opening bid for Mohammed Kudus rejected as Daniel Levy tests the water

0 5

Tottenham Hotspur have had their first bid for Mohammed Kudus knocked back, with West Ham United holding firm on their valuation of the Ghanaian forward.

Just yesterday, Antoine Semenyo put to bed speculation about his future after he signed a new deal with Bournemouth that is expected to keep him at the Vitality Stadium until 2030.

That leaves Tottenham Hotspur’s attention now on Mohammed Kudus, whom they are keen to sign, with reports even claiming that Daniel Levy has decided to hold talks with West Ham United about bringing Kudus to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

While Tottenham are eager to land the West Ham United man, it is claimed that the Hammers have also offered Kudus to two of Tottenham’s Premier League rivals, as they look to cash in on the Ghana international this summer.

Tottenham bid rejected for West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus

It is understood that Kudus has an £85 million release clause that is active for Premier League clubs.

However, West Ham could sell Kudus for £60 million this transfer window, and Tottenham have now tested the waters with an opening offer.

This report comes from Football Insider’s chief correspondent, Pete O’Rourke, who claims that Tottenham have submitted a bid for Mohammed Kudus, but it has already been rejected by West Ham United.

According to the journalist, Tottenham’s opening offer is said to be in the region of £50 million plus £5 million in add-ons – an offer deemed below the East London club’s valuation.

His tweet reads: “West Ham have rejected Tottenham’s opening offer for Mohammed Kudus thought to be £50m +£5m in add-on.”

Spurs fans react to Kudus price tag amid PSR concerns

Of course, this report comes as no surprise, as The Guardian reported two weeks ago that Tottenham were looking to test the water with a £50 million bid for Kudus this summer.

However, following Pete O’Rourke’s latest update, it is obvious that the amount is far from enough for West Ham United, who are said to be looking to stay within the PSR limit. It is unclear from O’Rourke’s report whether the opening £50m+£5m bid came in the last 24 hours or two weeks ago.

Tottenham supporters have had a mixed reaction to the £60 million price tag being demanded for Kudus, with many believing that the winger’s output from last season, when he grabbed five goals, is far from reflective of a £60 million player.
