Bruins Newcomer Plans To Make This Zdeno Chara-Inspired Change
Viktor Arvidsson intends to make at least one change as he begins his career with the Boston Bruins.
Arvidsson, who has worn No. 33 since 2017, plans to rock a different uniform number on his Black and Gold sweater. The 11-year veteran knows the impact Zdeno Chara left on the franchise, and likely knows No. 33 is headed to the rafters in the near future.
“I don’t think I’m going to touch that number in Boston,” Arvidsson said with a smirk during his post-trade video conference Tuesday, as shared by the Bruins. “We’ll see where I end up.”

Arvidsson started wearing No. 33 in 2017. He sported the digits with the Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings and most recently the Edmonton Oilers.
Edmonton traded Arvidsson to Boston in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
Arvidsson isn’t sure what number Bruins fans will see him skating in during the 2025-26 campaign. He could have his daughters offer some advice, or go back to a number he’s worn elsewhere. But the Bruins newcomer, to no surprise, isn’t going to step on the longtime captain’s skates.
