Bucks Irk Giannis Antetokounmpo After Decision On Damian Lillard
If the Milwaukee Bucks were hoping to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo happy this offseason, they apparently haven’t got off to the best start.
Milwaukee is waiving injured guard Damian Lillard and stretching the remaining $113 million on his contract in order to sign Myles Turner, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported Tuesday. Charania’s report surfaced just a few minutes after he reported the free-agent center agreed to a four-year, $107 million deal with the Bucks.
Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes reported shortly after that Antetokounmpo is “not pleased” with the team’s decision to waive Lillard, who joined the Bucks two seasons ago. Lillard had surgery to repair a torn Achilles in early May, which will cause the 24-year-old to miss most, if not all, the 2025-26 campaign.
Antetokounmpo reacted to the news with a social media post citing the phrase: “I don’t know what’s going on right now, man.”
The two-time NBA MVP entered the offseason at the center of trade speculation, and this undoubtedly will cause such rumors to pick up even more.
