Bruins Get Offensively Minded Forward In Edmonton Trade
The Boston Bruins continued their busy offseason, acquiring forward Viktor Arvidsson from the Edmonton Oilers, the team announced on Tuesday.
Boston sent a 2027 fifth-round draft pick for the right-winger to Edmonton. Arvidsson waived his no-trade clause to go to the Bruins.
Arvidsson has skated in 67 games with the Oilers during the 2024-25 season, totaling 15 goals and 12 assists for 27 points. The 32-year-old also has playoff experience, appearing in 15 games during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, tallying two goals and five assists for seven points.
Arvidsson has battled with injuries throughout his career, but will add experience and a scoring touch to Boston’s lineup. The forward will likely fit into the Bruins’ middle six.
He has played in the NHL for 11 seasons with the Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings and the Oilers. Arvidsson has 613 career NHL games under his belt, scoring 194 goals and 195 assists for 389 points.
The Skelleftea, Sweden native will head into his final year of his two-year, $8 million contract and will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Head coach Marco Sturm is not a stranger to the 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward. Sturm was an assistant coach during Arvidsson’s first season with the Los Angeles Kings.
Tuesday marks the first day of free agency, meaning the Bruins could continue to add more pieces for their 2025-26 roster.
