Jamie O'Hara would love to see Liverpool midfielder at Tottenham to help Dejan Kulusevski

0 7

Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to hijack Brighton and Hove Albion’s move for Harvey Elliott as the midfielder’s Liverpool exit looms.

While Tottenham Hotspur continue to drag their feet this summer window in terms of completing big-name signings, the same cannot be said of Liverpool.

The Reds, who only just won the Premier League last season, are looking to defend their title in the upcoming campaign and have already completed key deals, with Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong among the headline arrivals.

Daniel Levy claims he wants Tottenham to win both the Premier League and the Champions League, but for a chairman with such ambitions, the club’s transfer dealings so far this summer leave a lot to be desired.

Tottenham urged to rival Brighton for Harvey Elliott transfer

While Liverpool is bringing in fresh faces, there is an expectation that a few of their current squad members could be moved on this summer.

Darwin Nunez’s future at Anfield remains uncertain, and former England international Chris Waddle has encouraged Tottenham to make a move for Nunez this transfer window.

Harvey Elliott is another player who could be heading for the exit, with reports suggesting he is weighing up his options ahead of the new season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, pundit Jason Cundy argued that Elliott should leave Liverpool in search of regular game time and named Brighton as a suitable landing spot, although he warned that wages could be a stumbling block.

Cundy said: “Brighton, that link has to be serious. The way Brighton play, he fits that model, but it is wages and the fact that he is not going to come cheap – they might have a problem with that. He certainly fits into the style of play.”

However, former Spurs man Jamie O’Hara went one step further than Cundy, stating that Elliott would thrive at Tottenham: “I would have him at Tottenham.

“He plays on the right, he can compete with Brennan Johnson. Kulusevski is a similar player, but Harvey Elliott has got something about him – he can play as a 10, he can play different areas, he can play midfield.”

Harvey Elliott’s versatility could benefit Spurs squad

Of course, Elliott is no stranger to the Premier League, having made 28 appearances for Liverpool last season.

The midfielder is also tactically flexible, capable of operating in multiple positions across the midfield and forward lines – something that could be of real use to Thomas Frank as he reshapes this Spurs squad.

Tottenham are keen to add more firepower to their ranks and have also been linked with Eberechi Eze. While Eze would be more suited to a role on the left, adding Elliott to compete with Brennan Johnson on the right could be a smart piece of business – if Spurs can negotiate the right deal.
