Josh Mulligan: 'No Brainer' To Choose Hibs

David Gray’s third summer signing, Josh Mulligan, states it was a “no brainer” to join Hibernian on a four-year deal!

The 22-year-old versatile midfielder has joined the Club following his exit from Dundee, and has no qualms about how excited he is to get under way in Leith with his new teammates. 

Speaking to HibsTV for the first time, Mulligan expressed his delight at joining up with David Gray’s side ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and praised Hibs’ style of play – crediting it as a key reason for choosing a career at Easter Road over a move elsewhere. 

“I’m delighted. It has been a long time coming but it is definitely worth the wait. I’m buzzing to be here and I can’t wait to get going.

“Hibs were the first team that showed interest, and that is usually a good sign. They wanted me to come here and be in the first team. Playing against Hibs last season, seeing how good they were and how well run they were, it was a no brainer for me.

“There are obviously loads of good players in this squad but it was more the way they were playing, that’s what impressed me most. It’s something I want to be a part of moving forward.”

The Scotland Under-21 international, who has linked up on a number of occasions with new teammate Kieron Bowie on the national stage, offers a unique dynamism to the Hibernian squad.

A natural defensive midfielder, Mulligan is also accomplished up and down the entire right flank, particularly at wing-back, and is also capable of pushing further forward in midfield. 

“I’m quite a powerful player, I’d say,” he said when asked about his player profile. “I’m good with the ball at my feet, I like running at players. 

“I create chances but I also have that other side of my game as well, I’m happy to get stuck in, which is needed in this league.

“I can’t explain how happy I am to be here,” he added. “I just want to get in and meet all of the boys. It’s an unbelievable feeling. I can’t wait to get going.”
