Chris Waddle reveals when he thinks Harry Kane could make a Tottenham return

0 1

Chris Waddle has now weighed in on what Harry Kane will be thinking about the possibility of returning to Tottenham to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League record in the future.

Tottenham Hotspur and Kane both ended their trophy drought last season, with the striker getting his hands on the Bundesliga title while the Lilywhites secured the Europa League trophy.

While it would have been a fairytale for the England captain to lift silverware with his boyhood club, some Spurs fans will believe that there is still a chance of that happening in the future.

Spurs have a first refusal on Kane, which was agreed upon when a deal was struck in 2023 between the North London club and Bayern Munich.

Chris Waddle does not think Harry Kane will entertain Tottenham return yet

Waddle believes that the 31-year-old will not be giving any thought to returning to Spurs or the Premier League right now, predicting that he will remain at the Allianz Arena for the next three or four years.

The 64-year-old believes that since Kane is not reliant on his pace or athleticism, he will continue to play at the highest level well into his late thirties. If he is to return to Spurs, Waddle thinks it will be in another three or four years.

The Tottenham legend told OLBG: “Harry Kane has never relied on pace, he has relied on his brain, his technique and his movement. He is very good at what he does and his goal record is phenomenal.

“If he wants to come back and be the all-time top Premier League top scorer, then you can’t rule it out, but I still think he will be getting chances and scoring at Bayern when he is 37 or 38. I don’t think we will see Harry Kane getting sold by Bayern next season. I think they’ll be happy to keep Harry Kane for the next three or four seasons.”

“Lewandowski was there till he was 33 scoring goals, now looking at him at Barcelona, they probably think he left too early. I think it’ll be down to Harry Kane if he wants to go back to Spurs or back to England or does he want to finish his time abroad?

“Even if Bayern Munich don’t want him, Lewandowski has shown that big clubs still want you at any age if you have the fitness and the know-how, you can get tasty offers.

“It would be great for Harry Kane and Spurs if he came back and got the record, but he won’t have that in his mind at the moment. He will be thinking about starting the season strong and extending his contract. Whether he has in the back of his mind about playing in another league like Lewandowski or not, he won’t be short of options.”

Kane has a low release clause but Bayern Munich are relaxed

It is now public knowledge that Kane’s contract at Bayern has an exit clause of £54m this summer, but that does not mean that the Bundesliga giants are in danger of losing their star striker.

Reports from Germany indicate Bayern are relaxed about Harry Kane’s release clause as they do not expect the striker to push for a move this summer, let alone back to Tottenham.

Addressing the rumours at the start of April, Kane himself admitted that he is happy at Bayern and expressed his desire to compete for and win the biggest trophies over the coming years.
