Tottenham could earn a bunch of money by trolling Sir Alex Ferguson and Man United
Spurs have served up the ultimate revenge to Manchester United fans by firing back at Sir Alex Ferguson’s infamous ‘lads, it’s Tottenham’ jibe in a cheeky but brilliant way – and fans are absolutely loving it.
It is no news that Tottenham Hotspur have often been the joke of the town, with rival fans giving it large to supporters of the Lilywhites.
From the Spursy label to the infamous “lads, it’s Tottenham” jibe Roy Keane revealed Ferguson used to fire up his team back in the day, the banter has been non-stop.
However, Tottenham have finally put an end to their banter era, after they beat Manchester United in the Europa League final, bringing an end to a 17-year wait for a major piece of silverware.
Tottenham hit back at Sir Alex Ferguson jibe with new t-shirt
The north London club has now finally fired back at Sir Alex Ferguson’s infamous jibe, by inscribing “Lads, it’s Tottenham” on hoodies and t-shirts that are currently up for sale on Spurs’ official online store.
The navy adult hoodie with the phrase embroidered on it is up for sale for £55, while the t-shirt has been priced at £30 by the club.
Of course, this swipe at the Red Devils comes after photos of t-shirts reportedly produced by Manchester United fans preparing to celebrate a potential Europa League success over Tottenham surfaced on the internet, with the date of the final, the Europa League logo and the phrase “Lads, it’s Tottenham” firmly fixed on the t-shirts.
Spurs fans who have caught wind of the club’s latest merchandise on the club’s official online store are loving the banter, as many took to social media to express their delight.
One fan said: “’Lads, it’s Tottenham’ – THIS IS BRILLIANT. THFC are currently selling these hoodies and t-shirts in the official club shop.”
Another stated: “No way have the club released ‘lads, it’s Tottenham’ t-shirts on the official website.”
One more added: “The ‘lads it is Tottenham’ text is too small – if the club is going to use it they have to do it with confidence and zero shame.”
Spurs fans enjoy long-awaited banter win over Manchester United
Of course, for a fanbase who have constantly been on the receiving end of banter, it surely feels like Tottenham fans deserve this win.
Indeed, not only did Spurs beat Manchester United in the final of the Europa League, but the win in Bilbao made it four consecutive wins against the Red Devils in the 2024/25 campaign.
In fact, even Gareth Bale was quick to take a swipe at Manchester United following Tottenham’s Europa League victory back in May, labelling the Red Devils United-y.
