Tottenham Hotspur accept unique offer to sell just 60% of forgotten footballer
Tottenham Hotspur have just reportedly received an interesting offer from an Argentine club for Alejo Veliz, and the Lilywhites have allegedly greenlighted a sale.
Veliz’s time in Europe has not been according to plan, with the centre-forward struggling to make an impact in his loan spells at Sevilla and Espanyol.
Given that he is only 21 years of age, one would have thought that Tottenham Hotspur would persist with the youngster, but that is not the case if reports from Argentina are to be believed.
It has been widely claimed over recent weeks that Rosaria Central want to re-sign Veliz this summer and that Tottenham have expressed a willingness to cash in on him.
Racing Club de Avellaneda and Tottenham strike a deal for Alejo Veliz
However, journalist German Garcia Grova has now claimed that it is Rosario’s rivals, Racing Club de Avellaneda, who have stolen a march on the striker’s boyhood club.
Racing have reportedly made an offer of $5m (£3.6m) for 60 per cent of the Tottenham man, which means that Spurs will retain a 40 per cent sell-on clause on the forward.
The journalist claims that Spurs have given the green light for the youngster’s sale to Racing, with Veliz thought to be keen on a return to Argentina.
Will Rosario Central respond with an offer for Veliz?
Just a few days ago, a Rosaria official claimed that Veliz is keen on a return to the club this summer.
However, he admitted that negotiations with Tottenham are not proving straightforward, while the report, which carried his quotes, went on to explain that Rosaria wants to sign the 21-year-old on loan while Spurs prefer a permanent sale.
It will be interesting to see if Rosario now match Racing’s offer as Tottenham hope that a bidding war ensues for the centre-forward’s services.
