NBA Rumors: This Team Made ‘Aggressive Push’ For Jaylen Brown Before Draft

Danny Ainge apparently was hoping to reunite with Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown.

Hours before the 2025 NBA Draft tipped off Wednesday night, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel reported Ainge and the Utah Jazz recently made an “aggressive push” for Brown. The elder Ainge serves as the CEO of the Jazz while his son, Austin Ainge, recently was hired as Utah’s president of basketball operations.

The trade did not materialize ahead of the NBA draft, and the Jazz selected guard Ace Bailey with the fifth overall pick. While it was not reported what Utah included in its “aggressive” offer, it’s fair to think such a haul would have included their first-round pick.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on Wednesday reported teams were offering top-10 selections for Celtics stars Derrick White and Brown.

The Celtics traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night and dealt Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. Those two trades helped Boston get under the second apron of the luxury tax, and thus made trading Brown even less likely.
