Celtics Select Hugo Gonzalez With First-Round Pick In 2025 NBA Draft
The Boston Celtics selected Hugo Gonzalez with the 28th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The 19-year-old wing spent the 2024-25 season with Real Madrid (Madrid, Spain). While playing against Liga ACB competition, Gonzalez came off the bench and averaged 5.2 points and 0.9 assists in 14 minutes per game.
He reportedly will be brought to Boston next season as opposed to a draft-and-stash prospect.

The 6-foot-6 Gonzalez was ESPN’s second-best player available when the Celtics were on the clock, behind only Connecticut guard Liam McNeeley. McNeeley was selected by the Charlotte Hornets at 29th overall.
ESPN NBA draft analyst Jonathan Givony called Gonzalez “one of the biggest steals of the draft” while appearing on the broadcast. Givony lauded Gonzalez for his court vision, athleticism and ability to play with a high-motor and energy.
Boston will be back on the clock when the second round begins Thursday night. The Green hold the 32nd overall pick, the second pick of the second round.
