"Happy ending": 25yo United star has now agreed £164k per week contract with Euro club - report

0 1

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce ahead of his potential transfer, according to Turkish outlet Sabah (page 17).

The England international spent the previous campaign on loan with Chelsea. The Blues had an obligation to buy him for £25 million but terminated the agreement by paying a £5m penalty fee.

Sancho is now expected to pursue a new challenge away from Old Trafford, and Sabah report that he has finalised terms with Fenerbahce over a £164,000 per week salary (£8.53m annually), likely after tax.

Negotiations between Fenerbahce and the winger have reached a ‘happy ending’, and he is ready to join the Istanbul giants, provided they can negotiate a suitable fee with the Red Devils.

United poised to part ways with Sancho

The 25-year-old has struggled to adapt to the demands of the Premier League. He showed promise during the early phase of his Chelsea loan, but his form went off the boil as the season progressed.

The Blues were still open to keeping him on a permanent deal, but Sancho’s reluctance to accept a pay cut on his £250,000 per week wages meant the club decided against purchasing him.

Sancho could now be on his way to Fenerbahce to replace Allan Saint-Maximin, who spent the recent campaign on a temporary deal from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ahli.

The attacker is reportedly set to earn a net salary of £164,000 per week. Turkish clubs have the luxury of low taxes and can thereby pay premium salaries to footballers.

United were ready to offload Sancho to Chelsea last summer for £25m. They have reportedly lowered their price tag to just £20m, but Fenerbahce may propose to pay less.

The club’s record signing was Youssef En-Nesyri for £16.6m from Sevilla last summer. They could offer a similar package to prise Sancho away from United in the coming days.

United need to offload Sancho as soon as possible to concentrate on other outgoings. They still need to sort out the futures of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.
