Bruins Announce 2025 Preseason Schedule

The Stanley Cup Final just ended and summer just started, but it’s never too early to start looking ahead to next season.

The Boston Bruins return to the ice in less than three months for the start of preseason. On Tuesday, they released their preseason schedule.

The Bruins will play six preseason games this fall, with three at home and three on the road. All six games are against Metropolitan Division opponents.

Boston kicks off its preseason slate against the Washington Capitals at home on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 5 p.m. ET, which will mark the debut of new head coach Marco Sturm.

Boston then will hit the road to face the New York Rangers on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. and the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 5 p.m.

The Bruins will return home to play the Flyers two days later on Monday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m., then play their final preseason road game against the Capitals on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m.

They’ll wrap up their preseason schedule at home against the Rangers on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m.

That will give Sturm a few weeks to get a feel for his new team before the regular season begins in early October. The 2025-26 NHL schedule has not been released yet.

Boston is looking to rebound from a disappointing season that saw the team post a losing record (33-39-10) for the first time since 2006-07 and finish last in the Atlantic Division. The Bruins fired head coach Jim Montgomery and traded Brad Marchand during the season as well, so hopefully the new campaign brings improvement and more stability under Sturm.

Washington will be a good test for Boston after winning the Metropolitan Division last year. New York narrowly missed the playoffs at 39-36-7, while Philadelphia tied the Bruins for the worst record in the Eastern Conference.
