Tottenham rub salt in the wounds with Man United settlement news after Europa League win

0 4

Tottenham Hotspur have now been backed to reach an agreement with the owners of Man United, INEOS, after Daniel Levy decided to take them to court over a contract dispute.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS, who own 25 per cent of Man United, announced a multi-million-pound, five-year deal with Spurs in December 2022 to promote INEOS Grenadier car as the club’s ‘official 4×4 vehicle partner’.

However, it emerged earlier this year that talks were underway to end the sponsorship deal between Spurs and INEOS two years before it runs out, with the United owners having to undertake major cost-cutting measures due to financial pressures.

It emerged last week that, with the negotiations no closer to reaching an agreement, Spurs took High Court legal action on June 12 against INEOS.

Tottenham are expected to reach a settlement with INEOS

The North London club have lodged a claim against INEOS Automotive Limited in a commercial listing under “general commercial contracts and arrangements”.

However, Football Insider now say that Spurs are likely to reach a settlement with the multinational conglomerate out of court.

The outlet points out that INEOS have maintained that they had a contractual right to terminate the partnership with Tottenham Hotspur in December 2024, which they exercised.

The report reveals that these kinds of disputes are common in business and the parties are likely to settle on compensation.

Spurs are waging a bigger battle with Man United this summer

Apart from the ongoing legal battle between Daniel Levy and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the two might also butt heads in the transfer window this summer.

It has been widely reported over recent days that Tottenham are trying to hijack Man United’s move to Bryan Mbeumo after Thomas Frank was confirmed as their head coach.

Over recent days, it has emerged that the Red Devils could challenge Spurs in their pursuit of Mohammed Kudus while there have also been suggestions that Rubem Amorim’s men are ready to battle the North Londoners for Antoine Semenyo.
