David Ortiz Takes Another Shot At Rafael Devers On Instagram

After David Ortiz made his position clear about the Rafael Devers trade in an Instagram post, he also decided to take his feelings to Instagram Live.

Ortiz has openly talked about how Devers ignored his texts messages when reports came out that he was unhappy with the Red Sox. The Boston legend told media outlets that Devers’ ego got in the way.

With Ortiz’s unhappiness with Devers, he went on Instagram Live on Saturday and went more in depth about the situation.

“Red Sox didn’t disrespect Devers. He disrespected himself,” Ortiz said, translated to English by Marino Pepen. “He comes to Spring Training out of shape and being the third baseman with the worst defense, they sign a Gold Glove and he won’t accept another position.”

Ortiz went on to show all the messages he sent to Devers that were ignored.

“Do you know why I got involved? Because he was Dominican just like me,” Ortiz said. “We spoke the same language and I thought we’d understand each other, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.”

Another Red Sox legend, Pedro Martinez has taken a different stance during the trade, disapproving of what Ortiz has said. Martinez has said that he wished the Red Sox handled everything within the organization, not bringing it to media.

It seems Devers just wants to move on with the San Francisco Giants, and so do the Red Sox.

The Red Sox play their last game against the Giants on Sunday at Oracle Park at 4:05 p.m. ET.
