Tottenham midfielder could leave this summer despite Thomas Frank praising him

0 4

In his first interview as Tottenham’s head coach, Thomas Frank singled out three senior players he is looking forward to working with, but a new report has claimed that one of those three could be on the way out the door this summer.

The Dane has his work cut out ahead of his first season at Spurs, with reports indicating that Frank will be backed with big funds to rebuild the Tottenham squad.

However, there are many players at Tottenham that the 51-year-old is already a fan of. Frank tried to take Brennan Johnson and Archie Gray to Brentford before the Lilywhites won the race for the pair.

Additionally, in his first interview with the club channel a few days ago, Frank said that he is excited to work with Dominic Solanke, James Maddison, and Rodrigo Bentancur, but it turns out that he might not get an opportunity to do so with one of those players.

Rodrigo Bentancur may leave Tottenham this summer

Bentancur is one of several Tottenham players having just one year left on his deal, and the Lilywhites are expected to make efforts to keep him at the club.

It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Spurs want to hand Bentancur a new contract, with the club seeing the Uruguayan as a potential future captain.

This information has now been backed up by The Sun, who revealed that the North Londoners are hoping that the 27-year-old puts pen to paper on a new deal this summer.

However, it is explained that should Bentancur refuse to do so, an exit from Spurs cannot be ruled out, with Atletico Madrid circling over the midfielder.

Spurs have received positive signs from Bentancur

It was reported by TEAMtalk a few weeks ago that Tottenham’s preliminary contract talks with Bentancur have been positive.

However, there has since been a managerial change at Spurs and it remains to be seen how that has affected the midfielder’s stance.

One would expect Frank to hold talks with the Uruguay international soon to lay out his vision and the Dane will hope to get the 27-year-old onside.
