Exclusive: Mikey Moore attracts transfer interest as clubs await Tottenham decision under Thomas Frank
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank will have a decision to make on Mikey Moore’s footballing pathway this summer, with Ben Jacobs exclusively telling Spurs Web a number of clubs are monitoring his situation.
Moore penned his first professional contract with Spurs ahead of his 17th birthday last August and is expected to sign a new deal when he celebrates his birthday next month.
The midfielder made his Premier League debut for Tottenham against Manchester City in the 24/25 season, becoming the youngest player to represent the North London side in the Premier League.
Tottenham’s injury crisis last season allowed Moore some more frequent game time with the academy graduate having made 19 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal which came in the Europa League.
Championship clubs are keen to take Moore on loan
Moore has revealed his aim of trying to impress Thomas Frank when he returns for pre-season training under the new Spurs head coach.
The teenage prodigy has been on international duty with England at the UEFA U19 Euro finals this month in Romania, but suffered an ankle injury towards the end of their fixture against Norway, which proved to be his last minutes in the competition after his side were eliminated in the group stages.
Ben Jacobs exclusively told Spurs Web that while Tottenham are still to make a decision on whether to keep him as part of the first-team squad next season, there is absolutely no plan to sell Moore amid previous reports of interest from Borussia Dortmund.
A number of Championship teams are keeping an eye on Moore’s situation this summer with plenty of interest in taking him on loan, should Tottenham decide that regular senior first-team football is the best decision for this stage of his career.
Tottenham are yet to make a decision on Mikey Moore
Jacobs told SpursWeb: “At the moment, Mikey Moore’s pathway is a bit unclear but that’s in many ways positive as it shows he’s in contention to be a first-team squad member again still.
“He found himself getting significant minutes last season due to Spurs’ injury woes. We have heard some links with Dortmund this summer, but what I can tell you is Spurs have no plans to sell.
“Moore is seen as a top talent, and it will be interesting to see if Thomas Frank wants to keep him with the first-team squad or send him out for minutes.
“There are certainly a few Championship clubs keen on a loan. Middlesbrough, Coventry and QPR are three teams monitoring the situation. Of course, there is a natural link with West Brom and former Spurs assistant manager Ryan Mason, but there has been no approach yet. Let’s see what happens there as he’s only just finding his feet in a new job.
“At this stage, I am not aware of Spurs offering Moore up on loan. Frank will likely assess first and then the picture will be clear, but if Spurs do choose to do a Championship loan, they certainly won’t be short of options.”
Moore is expected to be involved when Tottenham’s pre-season campaign kicks off next month, with matches against Luton Town, Arsenal, Newcastle and Bayern Munich having already been announced.
