Some congratulations

0 54

Morning all.

If you’ll forgive me today, this is going to be a bit quick and light on Arsenal news (what news?). There’s only so many ‘Hey, I wonder when Martin Zubimendi will be announced?’ blogs one person can write. I’ve mentioned over the last couple of days that I’ve been in London, and beyond spending time in this incredible city, there was a very specific reason for the trip.

So, let me take this opportunity to send my congratulations to my friend and Arseblog colleague Andrew Allen after he got married yesterday. I know he’s a man who plays his many cards close to his chest, so as to respect his privacy, I won’t go into any details, but suffice to say he’s a very lucky man to have found a beautiful wife, and I would also say she is a lucky lady to have Andrew on her arm.

Those of you who know Andrew in even a passing way will understand that yesterday was an impeccably stylish day, and it was a privilege to attend the celebration with his family (new and old), and many friends. There was food, there was wine (quite a lot of wine *boilk*), and some genuinely brilliant speeches – hats off to the groom himself and his best man (thanks Nick for the Arseblog plug!).

Was 30C the ideal weather for a suit and tie? Probably not, but that’s the most first world problem I can possibly think of. It was a beautiful day, in gorgeous surroundings, spent with great people, and I’m just so happy for Andrew. Aside from my wife, he is probably the person I speak to most often – even if it’s just to check in that there’s nothing going on that needs to be covered for Arseblog News. We touch base daily, more or less. We’ve been working together for 14 years, and it’s such an amazing thing to find someone who just understands stuff so well.

What we should cover, what we shouldn’t, how to write something, how not to write something, exceptional transcription skills, the lot. From day one he has made my life easier and I don’t take that for granted one bit. Sometimes I’ll wake up and see a random story about some stuff I didn’t even know was happening, with a publishing time of midnight. I don’t ask this of him, it’s just what he does.

Which is why I want to state for the record that when he told me he was bringing his laptop on honeymoon I told him outright he was forbidden to do any work. He’ll more than likely ignore that, but to the lovely person at his side this morning, I told him not to … honestly!

Anyway, in a virtual way, raise a glass or a cup of coffee or whatever you have to hand this morning, to the new couple. Enjoy the time away you two, and we’ll cover the striker signing as and when it happens!
