Thomas Frank names the Tottenham legend he would love to have in his team
Thomas Frank was asked to pick one former Tottenham player he would like to have in his squad, and he did not hesitate with his answer, admitting that he is a big fan of one Spurs legend.
It is fair to say that Frank has made a superb first impression among Spurs fans, with the Dane coming across very well in his first interview as Tottenham’s head coach earlier this week.
Frank added a classy touch by praising Ange Postecoglou for winning the Europa League, which went down very well with the fan base, who are now excited about the start of a new era under the Dane.
Frank has also named some of his favourites from the current Tottenham squad, and the players he mentioned came as a surprise to some.
Thomas Frank admits he is a huge fan of Tottenham legend
The 51-year-old was posed a significant challenge, being asked to name one player from Tottenham’s history that he would like to have in his squad.
Given the kind of big names who have worn the famous Lilywhite shirt over the decades, it is not a question that even Tottenham Hotspur fans will find easy to answer, but Frank did not think twice before giving his answer.
When asked which retired Tottenham player he would like to work with, the Dane told the club’s official channel: “Glenn Hoddle. Definitely. He is my favourite. I think he was unique as a player.”
Why Frank’s answer bodes well for Spurs
There is a perception that Frank is a coach who is much more pragmatic than the likes of Ange Postecoglou or Mauricio Pochettino and is cut from a similar cloth to Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
That comes from his safety-first approach with Brentford, but the fact that he picked Hoddle as his favourite shows that the 51-year-old likes attackers who express themselves on the ball.
That is something he emphasises in his first interview, with Frank insisting that he likes players who take risks and are brave in possession.
