Red Sox Making These Position Changes After Rafael Devers Trade
Rafael Devers’ refusal to dig his glove out of the garbage caused quite a few issues for the Boston Red Sox.
It’s kind of a major reason why he plays on the other side of the country now…
Boston has been without an everyday first baseman since Triston Casas went down with a season-ending injury at the beginning of May, while having one player consistently repping as the designated hitter caused a pileup in the outfield. Devers’ shipment out of town fixed some of those problems, but not without some tinkering.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora shared some incoming defensive changes prior to Friday’s matchup with the San Francisco Giants.
Kristian Campbell, who was demoted prior to the weekend series, will receive considerable reps at first base with Triple-A Worcester. David Hamilton, in the meantime, will be holding things down at second base. Marcelo Mayer, who has been the primary third baseman, will also mix in at second base as the team prepares for the return of Alex Bregman.
Get it? Got it? Good.
