Big sleepout at The city Stadium
THE city STADIUM will be Queen’s Park’s permanent home for season 2025-26.
But it’ll also be an overnight spot for one very good cause later this week as the Spiders’ southside ground hosts Kilbryde Hospice fundraisers for their charity’s inaugural sleepout.
So far more than 50 people have signed up to spend the night in the stadium in a sponsored sleep-out under the stars.
They’ll be treated to an evening meal from Pacini’s in East Kilbride, hot drinks and snacks throughout the night from Champers Campers plus kids snacks and sweets laid on by Tesco in Cathcart Road.
Nadine Pender from the Hospice fundraising team said: “We’ll be sleeping pitchside or if the rain comes, which we hope it doesn’t, at the back of the stand.
“It will be a unique event – we run many events throughout the year to raise money but this is the first time we’ve fundraised in this way and we’re looking forward to it.
“There will be an evening’s entertainment plus toys for the kids who are coming but there are still spaces available to take part.
“All you need is your sleeping bag.”
The charity drive bills it as one night, one pitch and one big difference.
Breakfast will also be provided in the morning for the hardy souls who manage the full night under the stars.
Kieran Koszary, head of commercial at Queen’s Park added: “Everyone at Queen’s Park is delighted to support Kilbryde Hospice.
“The event on Friday night is a first for them, and a first for the club in hosting such an event and we are all hoping the rain stays off.
“There are still spaces available and we hope any of our fantastic fanbase who can make it could help with the fundraising effort, or even take part themselves.”
