United edge closer to blockbuster transfer for 22-goal star as 'personal terms' not an issue

0 3

Manchester United are weighing up a headline-grabbing summer swoop for Frankfurt goal machine Hugo Ekitike.

The Red Devils are determined to revitalise their forward line after dismal performances from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee last season.

Frankfurt sensation Ekitike has attracted interest from elite clubs like Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

According to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, personal terms are not expected to be a problem between Ekitike and United. The 22-year-old could be open to a potential move.

United have not placed a formal bid but are exploring the conditions of a deal.

The German club value their prized asset at an eye-watering £85 million and may not offer any discount after a sensational season.

Ekitike racked up 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games across all competitions in the recently concluded campaign.

He outscored Benjamin Sesko (13 goals) and Florian Wirtz (10 goals) in the Bundesliga.

The young striker is a boyhood United fan and would love to play at the Theatre of Dreams.

Ekitike possesses quick dribbling skills and has impressed with his finishing ability in the Bundesliga.

He would represent a clear upgrade over Hojlund, who has failed to hit the heights expected of him.

However, negotiations between the two clubs could prove to be the biggest hurdle.

United may not have the financial capacity to pay what Frankfurt are demanding until they offload a few of their underwhelming stars.

The Red Devils have already agreed a £62.5m move for Matheus Cunha.

A similar fee may be needed to lure Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, further tightening United’s purse strings.

The proceeds from the potential sale of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia could be the key to unlocking a deal for Ekitike.
