Bryan Mbeumo breaks his silence on Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham amid transfer saga
Bryan Mbeumo has broken his silence about Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham Hotspur and the forward’s comments are very interesting amidst speculation that he might join the Danish coach at N17 this summer.
It remains to be seen if Tottenham’s attempts to hijack Mbeumo’s move to Brentford will be successful, with the Lilywhites hoping that the Frank factor could give them an advantage.
Although Spurs are allegedly willing to pay more for Mbeumo than Man United are, it has been suggested that the Red Devils are still the front-runners in the race for the 25-year-old.
The Cameroon international has now spoken publicly for the first time about Frank’s move across London and has given his two cents on how his former coach will fare under the added pressure at N17.
Mbeumo will always be grateful to Thomas Frank
The Brentford forward admitted that he owes a lot to the new Tottenham head coach, who was the one who brought him into English football.
Bryan Mbeumo admitted that Frank helped develop him both on and off the pitch and suggested that the 51-year-old has all the tools to succeed at Tottenham Hotspur.
When asked about Frank’s departure, the rumoured Spurs target told Sky Sports: “He’s done so much for me. He literally trusted me from the start [at Brentford] and he developed the team so well. He developed me as a human and a player so much as well.
“I can only wish him all the best and I’m sure he’s going to do well. He knows everything; he’s really smart and knows what he wants to bring to the team, and how he wants them to play. He’s been fantastic for Brentford.”
When asked how Frank will deal with the added expectations at Tottenham, Mbeumo responded: “I think he’s going to have some time to adapt, obviously. [Champions League] games, more expectations, as you said, but I’m sure he’s going to do well. He knows how to talk to people. He knows how to build a group. And that’s why we’ve been playing so well.”
What do Tottenham think of their chances of landing Bryan Mbeumo?
According to reports over recent days, Spurs feel they have a ‘good chance’ of landing Mbeumo, now that Frank has arrived through the door.
However, the Lilywhites have work to do to win the race, with various sources claiming that Mbeumo already has a verbal agreement in place to join Man United.
The Cameroon international’s latest comments thanking Frank certainly do not suggest that he is expecting a reunion with the Dane soon.
