Cunha reveals talks with Man Utd man made his transfer 'decision easier'
Manchester United’s new signing Matheus Cunha has praised manager Ruben Amorim.
Cunha completed his transfer to Old Trafford from Wolverhampton Wanderers after United met the £62.5 million release clause in his contract at Molineux.
Speaking to MUTV, Cunha admitted that Amorim played an important role in his decision to join the Red Devils.
He said: “I think he [Ruben] is very important [reason] to bring me here. I really believe in him.
“Everything that he did in Portugal, like I say, I hope he can conquer the world, like he did in Portugal.
“All the conversations we have had made my decision easier.”
Cunha is a fantastic addition to United’s squad.
Amorim fields his side in a 3-4-2-1 formation, and Cunha could seamlessly adapt to the left number 10 spot.
The Brazilian international thrived in the same role at Wolves.
Known for his sharp movement and intelligent positioning, the 26-year-old can not only create chances but also make devastating runs into the box.
His silky technique and ability to unleash powerful long-range efforts make him a constant threat.
The 26-year-old will share the creative burden with Bruno Fernandes.
Cunha is coming off a stellar 2024-25 campaign, netting 17 goals and providing six assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
With United eager to fix their disjointed attack, Cunha’s creativity and versatility offer immediate solutions.
They are looking to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo but face stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspur.
Meanwhile, elite forwards Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres remain heavily linked with potential moves to the Theatre of Dreams.
