Thomas Frank’s first Tottenham game will no longer be Arsenal in Hong Kong after new announcement

0 9

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed their first pre-season fixture under new boss Thomas Frank as summer preparations take shape.

For the 16th time since 2001, Tottenham Hotspur are set for a new era under a different manager during Daniel Levy’s tenure as club chairman.

Thomas Frank is the next man on the list whose aim is to try to bring success to Tottenham Hotspur, who have had to deal with inconsistencies over the past few years, since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino.

Ange Postecoglou delivered silverware, but that was not enough to keep him in the Spurs dugout after his two seasons as manager, and now Thomas Frank has been handed three seasons to try to make things right.

Tottenham confirm Luton Town friendly as Thomas Frank’s first game in charge

The club have now confirmed Frank’s first game in charge as plans for pre-season continue to take shape.

It was revealed that Tottenham will be travelling to Asia to play a series of fixtures, including a north London derby showdown.

A clash against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena has also been confirmed, with Tottenham set to face the German champions in the Telekom Cup.

Now, Tottenham have announced that Spurs will face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, 26 July, at 3pm – a fixture that will mark Thomas Frank’s first outing in the dugout as Tottenham manager, before they travel to Asia for another preseason fixture against Arsenal on 31 July.

What Frank will want from Spurs pre-season

Of course, the Dane will be hoping he can bring success to Tottenham during his spell in charge, and having a full pre-season with this group of players should allow him to instil his footballing principles early on.

Spurs endured an abysmal campaign in the Premier League, finishing 17th and losing 22 out of their 38 matches – a dreadful season that ultimately cost Postecoglou his job.

Frank will be looking to avoid a repeat of that and deliver something more respectable, as the Tottenham hierarchy will be desperate for a return to competitiveness in the top flight.

Once the break for the players ends, they will return to Hotspur Way under Frank’s guidance for what remains of the summer before the season gets underway.
